Understanding Recognition Announcements

Fiddletree Systems Onboarding Package includes 3 recognition announcements:

  • Happy Anniversary!
  • Happy Birthday!
  • Welcome New Hires! 

These announcements are installed with the Fiddletree Systems installer and can be found in Vista HR Management on the Document Dashboard.  By default, these announcements have no user group assigned to them. Without a user group assigned, they will not show up for any users.

Access and Eligibility

Assign access to the announcements by adding one or more user group(s).  Members of the assigned user groups will be able to see the announcement, as well as be included as part of the employees listed in the announcements.

A employee will be listed in the Birthday Announcement if a) they are part of the user group(s) assigned to the announcement, and b) they have a birthday within 30 days from the current date. Employees will remain on the announcement for 7 days after their birthday before being removed.

A employee will be listed  in the Anniversary Announcement if a) they are part of the user group(s) assigned to the announcement, and b) the month and date of their hire (PR Employees > Hire Date) is within 30 days of the current date. Employees will remain on the announcement for 7 days after their hiring anniversary before being removed.

A new hire will be listed in the New Hire Announcement if a) they are part of the user group(s) assigned to the announcement, and b) the employee's start date is within 30 days of the current date (PR Employees > Hire Date). 

Customizing the Announcement

Each recognition announcement ships with header text and a unordered (bulleted) list.  Users can customize this template any way they desire as long as they do not remove the unordered list.  Users can add text before and/or after the unordered list, but the list must not be removed.  When the portal job runs to update the announcement, the list will update with the new values maintaining any customer text that exists before or after the list.  

If the unordered list is removed for any reason, the list of employees will be added to the end of the announcement.

Frequency

By default, each recognition announcement will be updated each day at 12 am server time.  Users can adjust the frequency by adjusting the scheduled job time (Admin > Portal Settings > Scheduled Jobs).  The jobs are connected to the recognition announcement  as follows:

  • Happy Anniversary! → FTS_Anniversary
  • Happy Birthday! → FTS_Birthday
  • Welcome New Hires! → FTS_NewHire

Creating Multiple Recognition Announcements

Users can make as many announcements as they like by following the steps below:

  1. Create a new Bulletin with an awesome title.
  2. Set the Mode to Library Item.
  3. Set the Direct URL to the recognition type URL shown below that you wish to use.
    1. Happy Anniversary! → FTS_Anniversary
    2. Happy Birthday! → FTS_Birthday
    3. Welcome New Hires → FTS_NewHire


      New Bulletin URL
  4. Save the record.
  5. Open the bulletin and switch the Mode to Company Announcement.
  6. Modify the Body as desired.  It is recommended that you add a unordered (bulleted) list with sample values.  When the portal scheduled job runs it will replace the sample values with the actual values.
  7. Assign an employee group to the bulletin.
